Talk homework

We have had a fabulous time celebrating World Book day. As your talk homework, I would like you to talk about your favourite author. Your parents can ask you;

  • Why do you like that particular author?
  • Which books are your favourite and why?
  • What would you like to say to one of the characters?
  • If you could ask the author questions, what would they be?
  • Is there a character similar to you? How are you the same?
  • If you could pick one character to be your best friend, who would it be and why?

World Book Day

World Book Day in Year 4 was a fun packed day with a range of activities and amazing outfits. The author we based all our work on was the talented Roald Dahl. His timeless stories have entertained children all around the world.

Here is a link to the Roald Dahl website. You will need to register but it is free.

Have a look at our photos from the day.

Thank you so much for taking part and finding costumes linked to the author Roald Dahl, you all looked wonderful.

Our guest speaker

Yesterday we were very fortunate to be visited by a friend from Year 1. Alex came to share Della dog's learning log. He had written all about his trip to Egypt including fascinating photos of his family, the pyramids and the hotel where he stayed.

Year 4 would like to thank Alex for coming to talk to us and share his experiences.
Write a comment about Alex and the learning log he shared.

Shadow Forest

Our class read at the moment is Shadow Forest by Matt Haig. We are loving it so far!

Here is a link to the Shadow Forest website. It is full of really interesting things to find out.

I found these questions on the website. Can you answer them?

1. Norway is a very beautiful country but at first Samuel hates living there? Why do you think this is?

2. Why does Samuel shout at his sister on page 55? And at what point does his opinion change of her?

3. Martha's silence is brought on by the sudden death of her parents. Can you find an instance where her silence brings danger to both herself and Samuel?

4 Can you spot the clues that give away Samuel has visited Norway before?
